Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss for the head coach role at LSU football. A few months into his tenure, the Tigers signed the top transfer portal class and have a top 10-ranked 2027 recruiting class. Kiffin drew comparisons between rerouting at LSU and Ole Miss during SEC media day.

"Somebody said it the other day," Kiffin said. "They were like, 'he's been here six months and he's had more five-star signees and commits than he did in the previous six years combined.' That's kind of proof to me of the decision and of the combination of the two, us and LSU."

The only five-star high school signee Kiffin secured at Ole Miss was linebacker Suntarine Perkins. The Rebels hit on several transfer portal additions during Kiffin's years to make multiple New Year Six bowls and the College Football Playoffs.

Since taking the reins at LSU in November, Kiffin signed three of the transfer portal's top 10 players and gained a commitment from 2027 five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson. Quarterback Sam Leavitt, offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and edge Princewill Umanmielen left their previous schools to join the Tigers.

"That's a big reason why we're here," Kiffin said. "We're going to make this thing different than anywhere else to go when you combine LSU and us. You're seeing it."
