Oregon Ducks QB Dante Moore Lands Intriguing 2026 Prediction

Following the 2025 college football season, the Oregon Ducks were expecting to lose standout quarterback Dante Moore to the NFL Draft. That didn't end up happening.
Despite being widely projected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Moore decided to return to Eugene for one more season. He felt that there was unfinished business for him with the Ducks.
Needless to say, the return of Moore has made Oregon look like a much more serious National Championship contender ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Last season, Moore put together big-time numbers across the board. He completed 71.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while also running for 156 yards and two more scores.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Moore has received some intriguing projections.
RotoWire has released their predictions for the Ducks' standout quarterback. They are expecting to see him throw for 3,018 yards, 26 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He was also projected to run for 201 yards and a score.
Moore would likely be very unhappy with his performance if those projections turn out to be accurate. He would be taking a step back in almost every statistical category. The only positive would be that he throws four less interceptions than he did in 2025.
Looking ahead to the future, Moore will likely take his talents to the NFL after the 2026 season. In order for the decision to return to Oregon to pay off, Moore will need to put up bigger numbers than RotoWire is projecting. He will be competing with quite a few talented quarterbacks to be a top-five pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
According to Phil Steele's 2026 College Football Preview, Moore is expected to be a top-tier Heisman Trophy candidate. Steele currently has Moore ranked as the No. 2 Heisman favorite behind Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
Other quarterbacks included among the best in the nation are Notre Dame's CJ Carr, Ole Miss standout Trinidad Chambliss, Ohio State's Julian Sayin, and Miami's Darian Mensah.
Hopefully, Moore is able to outshine these projections from RotoWire. His play will directly correlate to whether or not the Ducks end up being a true championship contender.
It will be interesting to see, but these lower projections are simply an added layer of motivation for Moore to prove his doubters wrong.
