What is the most annoying fan base in all of college football?
There are some worthy picks, of course. From Ohio State to Texas to Alabama to Notre Dame to Michigan to Penn State…to plenty of more college football programs, there are a bunch of annoying fan bases out there.
But according to ESPN college football expert Paul Finebaum, one program tops the list when it comes to annoyance, as we are heading into the start of the 2026 college football regular season.
ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum believes that the Clemson Tigers have the most "annoying" fans in all of college football.
Finebaum is sick and tired of hearing from Clemson fans year in and year out. He's fed up with the program's head coach, too.
ESPN college football analyst sounds off on Clemson fans
Finebaum made his comments at SEC Media Days.
"Overall? Clemson fans are just absurd," Finebaum said. "Because they think they're relevant. I get asked a couple times a year, what do you think about Dabo Swinney? And my answer's the same, and they all start tweeting, 'Oh man, Dabo Swinney living rent free in Paul Finebaum's brain.'"
"Now, Dabo Swinney is not living rent free in any – I mean, Shane Beamer is beating this guy."
Finebaum is fed up with the constant Clemson preseason hype, too.
"I am getting just so exasperated listening to Dabo tell us how great he used to be," Finebaum said on ESPN's Get Up. "They're not great anymore… Dabo is just stuck on stupid right now trying to convince that his program is still legitimate."
Swinney, meanwhile, doesn't seem to be the biggest fan of Finebaum, either.
"It ain't about what ESPN thinketh. It ain't about what Paul Finebaum sayeth," Swinney said. "It's about what we see. It's about how we think. That's the only thing that ever matters."
We'll see if Clemson can proves the critics wrong this fall.
