The Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs are battling to land four-star safety recruit Seth Williams. Williams has set his new commitment date for Friday, July 31. The class of 2027 safety was previously planning to announce his commitment on July 3, but as that date approached, he was unable to make up his mind.
Williams is the No. 19 safety prospect in the country and the No. 19 recruit in Georgia, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety is the No. 247 recruit in the country.
The talented defensive back is a Peach State product. He plays high school football for Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart would love to keep Williams in Georgia.
Williams previously said that he wanted to make a decision before the start of his senior season in August. The four-star decommitted from Clemson in April 2026. He only took official visits to Georgia and Clemson this summer.
Georgia needs more defensive back commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. The Dawgs have 19 commitments in the 2027 cycle, but just one defensive back commitment (four-star Adryan Cole). Georgia has the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation while Clemson has the No. 13 recruiting class with 25 commitments. The Tigers are well-stocked with five defensive back commitments.
