Alabama football quarterback Ty Simpson has lost some momentum in the Heisman Trophy race.

Once viewed as a lock to make the ceremony in New York City and as a significant contender to give the Crimson Tide its fifth Heisman Trophy following Mark Ingram in 2009, Derrick Henry in 2015, DeVonta Smith in 2020 and Bryce Young in 2021, Simpson has slipped down the leaderboard after performances against South Carolina and LSU, and a loss to Oklahoma.

Simpson is still viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in college football, leading the SEC in completions (226), pass attempts (338) and touchdowns (22) with 2,787 yards passing with a 66.9% completion rate and two interceptions.

Where do Simpson’s Heisman chances lie? Here are the latest odds for the Alabama quarterback.

Latest Ty Simpson Heisman Trophy odds

According to BetMGM, Simpson has slipped to +15,000 odds to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy, the 10th-best odds of any college football player.

Simpson sits behind Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who has -110 odds to win the Heisman, along with Ohio State QB Julian Sayin (+200), Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed (+550), Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia (+1,600) and Georgia QB Gunner Stockton (+2,500).

Is Ty Simpson still viewed as a Heisman Trophy contender?

According to On3’s latest Heisman Trophy poll, Simpson sits behind Mendoza, Sayin, Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love, Reed and Pavia.

“Simpson’s still on as a potential playoff contender, so there’s a lot of stage left to show out on,” On3 states. “But he needs to if he wants to get back in the running.”

After Alabama‘s loss to Oklahoma, The Athletic said Simpson fell “completely out of the race,” dropping from +550 to 150-to-1 odds.
