Investigators say the 16-year-old was last seen July 21 in South Los Angeles and are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.

Los Angeles County authorities are asking the public to help locate 16-year-old Syncere Pshyra Evans, who was last seen in South Los Angeles on July 21. The sheriff’s office classifed Evans as a critically missing juvenile.

Evans was last seen at about 4 p.m. in the 7300 block of Miramonte Boulevard. Investigators said she may have been headed toward the area around Main Street and Gage Avenue.

The teenager is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses and braces. Authorities believe she was wearing a blue hoodie, black jeans and black shoes when she disappeared.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released her photograph and identifying information on July 23 as Century Station detectives asked residents to report any information about where she may be. Her family has said it is concerned for her well-being. The public appeal asks anyone with information to contact Century Station detectives.

People reported that Evans remained missing nearly a week after she was last seen. Authorities have not publicly provided additional details about the events leading to her disappearance.

The case also demonstrates the importance of quickly circulating information about missing Black teenagers. TheGrio has previously reported on concerns that missing Black people often receive less sustained attention than similar cases involving white people.

Anyone who has seen the missing Los Angeles teenager or has information about her whereabouts should contact the Century Station Detective Bureau at 323-568-4800. Callers may also ask for Detective Nandy at 323-568-4959.
