Does Notre Dame need better lodging for football fans coming to the game?

The Notre Dame football program is a national brand — right? We take great pride in stating that fact when we talk about football independence from conferences, recruiting, and its place in college football. The “Notre Dame game” in South Bend is a bucket list item for many CFB fans once they have a game scheduled inside the House that Rock Built.
And yet… the available lodging for incoming fans has been a major complaint for years. While there have been a number of new spots to stay that have been built over the last 20 years, it still doesn’t seem like it’s enough, and the scarcity helps keep the cost of those lodgings fairly high due to the lack of supply.
If you own an Air BNB or a VRBO or another type of rental — please don’t come after me. I’m just stating the obvious, and obviously there should be more available places for Irish fans to come spend the weekend for the fall schedule.
And that brings me to this… a great idea by our friends in College Station, Texas.
Of course I understand the challenges of building and supporting such a venture, but in my opinion, a complex like this at Notre Dame would be an incredible success for both the fans and the university. There are some fairly smart people running Notre Dame — I think they can figure it out.
