Former SEC Star David Pollack with Very High Praise for the 2026 Gators

Former SEC star pass rusher David Pollack has seen his fair share of great football teams. He was a superstar player on some average Georgia teams and racked up all the awards he could get his hands on.

He was a first-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals before suffering a career-ending neck injury that catapulted him into the media space, where he has been a striking success. He has been front and center for the best football programs year in and year out, and he believes he found another one.

It's rare to hear a Bulldog compliment the Gators, but Pollack didn't hold back. He said, "Florida is going to get somebody, or somebody's this season. Florida fans, you are going to have plenty to cheer about…the toys, the weapons, they don't take a back seat to anyone."

Those are the first and last lines of his 1:04 video, where he just gushed about everything that Florida brings to the table this year.

The most important part of the Gators team this year is that they were able to retain a handful of their key pieces from last year's team. Guys like running back Jadan Baugh, pass rusher Myles Graham, Vernell Brown III, and Dallas Wilson all contributed last year and committed to stay with Jon Sumrall's Gators.

That leaves the conversation at Sumrall. Everywhere that Jon Sumrall has coached, he has won big. He made the Troy Trojans winners right away. He was 12-1 in his first year and 11-2 in year two. 

Then, after he moved to Tulane, he went 9-5 in year one and then 11-3 last year while making the College Football Playoff. The biggest thing that Gator fans should be excited about is the fact that he doesn't waste any time at all. He takes over a program and wins right away. He knows no other way.

Put all of these ingredients into a pot, stir it up, and all of a sudden there is a team that is ready to win and compete again at the top of the SEC and College Football. 

College Football is simply better when the Florida Gators are relevant. It has been far too long since they have been a meaningful and competitive group, but that might soon be changing.

They have what it takes to win in 2026, now they just have to get it done on the field.
