It’s a new era for the Michigan Wolverines football team with Kyle Whittingham as head coach. With Whittingham now in the fold and quarterback Bryce Underwood entering his second season as starting quarterback, there are high expectations from Michigan fans. Whittingham brings stability to the program and is a proven winner (177-78 career record, 11-6 in bowl games), but Michigan has quite a challenging schedule in 2026.

Michigan is facing four teams that made the College Football Playoff last season (Oklahoma, Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State), with Indiana winning the national championship. A trip to Oregon will be daunting because of the travel distance and the rowdy crowd that will await them at Autzen Stadium, and a trip to Columbus to face the Buckeyes is never easy. Michigan went 9-4 last season, a year that ended with Sherrone being fired as head coach ahead of Michigan’s Citrus Bowl loss to Texas.
The Whittingham era will provide less drama on and off the field than the Moore era, but will it provide more wins than a season ago? Let us know in the comments.
