Lineman Brock Barrows reconnects with Eric Mateos, commits to Wisconsin

MADISON – When Eric Mateos joined the Wisconsin football coaching staff in December, he brought with him all the contacts he made at Arkansas.

That relationship building paid off on the recruiting trail.

Brock Barrows, an interior offensive lineman from Lee Summit High School in Missouri, announced his UW commitment July 28. He joins Cale Britt, a linebacker from Orlando, in the Badgers' 2028 class.

Barrow made his announcement on his X and Instagram pages.

Barrows, who is 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds, is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals. ESPN and 247sports have not rated him yet.

College programs, however, have been after him since after his freshman season, when he received his first Power Four offer. It came from Arkansas when Mateos was its line coach.

That offer became moot when Arkansas fired coach Sam Pittman last September. Mateos wasn’t retained by the new coach and a few days later was hired by Wisconsin.

Barrows also announced offers from Purdue, Northwestern, Iowa State, Minnesota and Tennessee.

In February, Barrows received an offer from UW. He visited campus in late April and camped with the Badgers in June.

The commitment continues a strong start for Mateos on the recruiting trail with the Badgers. Mateos has closed the deal on five linemen, a list that includes four-star prospect Cole Reiter from Germantown plus Sussex Hamilton’s Hunter and Reece Mallinger, and Pewaukee’s Jack Tabbert.
