USC football doesn't really know what kind of UCLA team it will face this year. Will the Bruins be good? Mediocre? Bad? Bob Chesney gives UCLA the hope it will be a radically different team. We will have to let the season play out, but one Bruin USC might need to keep an eye on when it plays UCLA is Brian Rowe. College Sports Wire has more:

"UCLA coach Bob Chesney mentioned a couple of unheralded Bruins players by name when asked about guys who are going under the radar.

"'One guy that pops off the screen a little bit every day is Brian Rowe, who transferred in from South Carolina. His development every day is surpassing what we actually thought maybe he was as a football player. His strength in the weight room is phenomenal, but then his understanding of the playbook continues to grow. He makes some pretty elite plays. That's important,' Chesney said at Big Ten Media Days."

The South Carolina athletics website offered these details on Brian Rowe's 2025 season as a wide receiver with the Gamecocks:

"Selected as the co-Newcomer of the Spring for special teams along with Brandon Cisse… played in 11 of 12 games with four starts… had three-consecutive starts against Missouri, Kentucky and LSU and also started at Texas A&M… did not appear in the Oklahoma contest… caught 19 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown… top games came against Missouri (three catches for 50 yards with a season-long 24-yard TD reception) and Ole Miss (four catches for 45 yards)… also matched his season-high with four catches against Coastal Carolina for 18 yards… had three rushing attempts for eight yards and completed his only pass attempt – a 21-yard completion to LaNorris Sellers at Texas A&M."
