4-star LB recruit sets visit for Michigan vs Oklahoma football game

Newly offered LB sets Michigan visit for this fall
The Wolverines only offered 2028 four-star linebacker Ryan Peterson a month ago, but he has already locked in a game day visit to Ann Arbor.
The 6-foot, 220-pounder from North Carolina recently told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) that he plans on taking a trip to Ann Arbor for Michigan’s Week 2 matchup vs Oklahoma. He has never been to Michigan, but he knows exactly what he wants to see.
“A lot of schools have a great football team, but their city’s trash, not good people around,” Peterson said. “When I get to Ann Arbor, Michigan, I just want to see what it’s like, man, see what the city’s like, see what the coaching staff is like, see the people.”
Peterson also holds offers from Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame and many more of the best programs in college football. However, the Wolverines have something that those other schools don’t have when it comes to this recruitment — his fandom.
“Michigan was my favorite school growing up,” Peterson said. “Jabrill Peppers, I watched him, man. That was one of my guys that I wanted to be like. I wanted to go both sides like him, but obviously, Jabrill Peppers, he’s one of one.”
Peterson admitted he’s heard “a lot about Michigan from other recruits, and what I’m hearing from them, that’s something I want to be a part of.” He also is “excited to see what more of the Michigan staff is like because they seem like genuine people.”
There’s obviously a long way to go with all recruits in the 2028 class, but it sounds like Michigan is in a great spot with Peterson early on.
Four-star OL talks relationship with new U-M coaching staff
Toa Feinga is one of the top offensive linemen early on in the 2028 class. At 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, the Herriman, Utah native has been a high school standout since his freshman year and has been hearing from the Michigan coaching staff dating back to their days in Salt Lake City.
“I’ve known those coaches since I was a freshman,” Feinga recently told Rivals’ Greg Biggins ($). “Michigan is an incredible program and one of those schools that has always stood out to me.
“It’s an elite school and having a lot of coaches that I know, familiar faces makes it very appealing. I was very grateful to get an offer from coach Lewis (Powell) and coach (Jim) Harding when they got to Michigan and I’m definitely very interested in them.”
Michigan is far from the only program vying for his services. He is also high on Ohio State, Alabama, Nebraska, UCLA, and the two main in-state schools, Utah and BYU. Feinga is hoping to take a game day visit to Columbus this fall, so hopefully the Wolverines can throw a counter punch and get him in Ann Arbor as well.
One angle Michigan can hit is the academic side of things. Feinga has a 4.0 GPA in high school and takes his work in the classroom very seriously.
Feinga is ranked No. 141 overall on the Rivals Industry Ranking.
Recently offered DL discusses Michigan interest
Defensive tackles coach Larry Black extended an offer to 2028 three-star defensive lineman Tory Clark back on July 17. At 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, the Atlanta, Georgia native has compiled an impressive offer list this summer from other schools like Georgia, Oregon, Florida, Washington, Ole Miss and many others.
The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($) recently caught up with Clark to get his thoughts on the offer and his relationship with Black.
“First, I have known coach Black since his SEC days,” Clark said. “Me and my family met him. It was good to reconnect with him once he got to Michigan. … He’s one of the few coaches really talking with me about how to win at defensive tackle position and my thought process. He also took opportunity to talk with me and my pops about Michigan football, the direction of the program, what he likes about me and how I can improve.
“I was excited (to get the offer) and I’m ready to get on campus and experience a game. Coach Black and my family have a good connection and it’s getting stronger. I’m looking forward to building a stronger connection and learning and seeing more of the Michigan program. I will be on campus this fall for a game. We are going to be in the building for a game this fall.”
Even though the Wolverines were a bit later to offer him, Clark still thinks very highly of Michigan.
“I have a heavy interest in Michigan,” Clark said. “For me, it’s not about how many offers. I’m blessed and thankful there are programs willing to give me an opportunity to be a student athlete. Michigan is a program with a lot of history, playing in some of the biggest football games every season, tradition of winning with an amazing fan base and helping players to get to the next level. I’m also excited about potentially playing in the Big Ten.”
Michigan is now “in the top portion” of Clark’s offer list. As he said above, he plans on taking a trip for a game at some point this fall.
