ESPN predicts score of Georgia football vs Charlotte

The Georgia Bulldogs play the Charlotte 49ers at 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia. The Georgia-Charlotte game will be televised on SEC Network.

No. 4 Georgia (9-1, 7-1 SEC) plays Charlotte (1-9, 0-7 American) in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Georgia is expected to dominate a Charlotte team that has not defeated a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent all season and has not won against a Power Four opponent since 2021.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs will look to win on Saturday, which is senior day and the home regular season finale for UGA. The Bulldogs will be sure to play seniors (and young players) as much as they can will still improving ahead of the Bulldogs’ game against Georgia Tech the following week.

“It’s always a special day for our seniors,” Smart said. “These guys have their last home game or what’s scheduled to be their last home game, so it’s a special moment.”

Georgia is a 43 1/2-point home favorite against Charlotte. ESPN’s matchup predictor, which factors in how teams have performed, football power index and other key variables, gives Georgia a 99.0% chance to defeat Charlotte. The 49ers have a 1.0% chance of beating Georgia, but in reality the 49ers chances of winning are probably even less than that.

More interestingly, ESPN’s SP+ gives a score prediction for the Georgia-Charlotte game. SP+ gives Georgia a 100% chance of winning and likes for Georgia to cover the absolutely massive point spread.

Prediction: Georgia 52, Charlotte 3

Georgia’s CFP chances

ESPN gives Georgia a 98.8% chance of making the playoff. Georgia’s path to the playoff is simple. As long as the Bulldogs beat Charlotte, then Georgia will make the 12-team playoff.

UGA has a 34.4% chance of winning the SEC (second-best in the conference behind Alabama at 36.6%) and an 13.6% chance of winning the national championship (third best in America), according to the FPI. Georgia’s SEC championship chances more than double after the Bulldogs’ dominant win over Texas.
