The 2026 season is about to get underway. Oklahoma will hold its training camp media day on Tuesday ahead of fall camp opening this week. And the first preseason polls are about to be released. On Tuesday, the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll will be released on the USA TODAY Sports YouTube channel.
The Oklahoma Sooners are likely to enter the season in the top 15 but could find themselves inside the top 10. The Sooners return one of the best defenses in college football and will bring back an experienced quarterback, his leading receiver, and a more experienced offensive line than the one that started three freshmen a year ago.
The Sooners will have an arduous schedule to overcome, but they did so in 2025, despite a running game that was among the bottom 30 in college football and an offense that averaged just 24 points per game during the regular season. The offense is expected to be better than it was a year ago and if that's the case, the Sooners will have a chance to improve upon last season's 10-2 record and College Football Playoff appearance.
