Former Kansas State LB Austin Romaine Expected To Have Big Season At Texas Tech

The Kansas State Wildcats football team had a tough time watching linebacker Austin Romaine leave the program. 

In January, he announced he was entering the transfer portal. That landed Romaine headed to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the defending Big 12 champions. This is the NIL era, so it's hard to knock Romaine for the decision, especially if he gets to play for the team that was once again picked to win the league crown by the media. 

The move is so anticipated that Pro Football Focus College included Romaine in its Top 10 returning linebackers. He checked in at No. 3 behind Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (Notre Dame Fighting Irish) and Rasheem Biles (Texas Longhorns). 

Romaine probably got the Red Raiders' attention when he made 11 tackles for the Wildcats in last year's meeting. He tallied 60 tackles and a half sack for K-State before deciding to make a change. 

So far, he has impressed his Red Raiders teammates. 

"When he got here, I knew he was a ballplayer," Texas Tech linebacker Ben Roberts said at Big 12 Media Day in Frisco, Texas. "He's one of those guys that comes in and just fits the program the way he's supposed to. He's very intentional about the way that he goes about things. He's competitive, and he wants to be great. I have nothing but good things to say about him."

FOOTBALL PROGRAM OFFERS 2008 OFFENSIVE LINEMAN 

Another day, another 2028 class offer for Kansas State football.

The program is in pursuit of its first addition to the class, still trying to find out who will be next up in Manhattan, KS…even in the far future.

The latest offer was offensive lineman Jerry Richmond. He currently attends East St. Louis High School in East St. Louis, IL. Richmond has also received offers from Florida Atlantic, North Carolina, and South Dakota.

EX-WILDCATS BASKETBALL PLAYER HAS NEW HOME

Former Kansas State Wildcats guard CJ Jones was recently granted a fifth year of eligibility. 

On late Saturday night, he announced what he planned to do with it. Jones plans to continue his playing career at Pacific. Jones averaged 4.7 points in 64 games over two seasons for the Wildcats. He joins a Pacific team that finished 9-24 last year in the West Coast conference. This is Jones' third stop after beginning his collegiate career at University of Illinois-Chicago.
