Florida enters race for nation's top 2028 defensive lineman

Florida football is pursuing one of the nation's top defensive linemen. The Gators recently offered Kellan Hall, a 6-foot-4-inch, 265-pound defensive lineman from Christian Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, a five-star prospect. While Hall's recruitment remains in the early stages, Florida has entered the race for one of the nation's premier prospects in the 2028 class.

According to 247Sports, Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman has been in contact with Hall, telling him Florida's staff was impressed by his film. Hall described the Gators' offer as "a big one that a lot of people rally wait on." Hall said he views the Gators' offer as significant, though his recruitment is expected to be one of the most competitive battles in the entire cycle.

Last season, Hall helped Christian Academy of Louisville to a 15-0 record and Class 3A state championship. Playing primarily on the edge, he compiled 53 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. The top-rated lineman was recognized as a Rivals sophomore All-American and entered the 2028 rankings as a consensus five-star prospect.

Hall is the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 player at his position according to 247Sports Composite, while On3 industry rankings also have him at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. He has 28 total offers, including invitations from seven SEC programs, including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. Oklahoma currently holds the strongest odds to land Hall according to Rivals' RPM, at 83.9%, followed by Ohio State at 3.3%, and Notre Dame at 2.8%
