Vanderbilt football received 37 votes in the US LBM preseason coaches poll, ranking eighth among teams also receiving votes.
The Commodores, who were ranked No. 15 to end the 2025 season, were the highest-ranked team in the 2025 postseason poll to not be ranked in the 2026 preseason poll.
Nine SEC teams were ranked in the top 25 and four others received votes, with Vanderbilt receiving fewer votes than Florida and South Carolina but more votes than Auburn. Mississippi State, Kentucky and Arkansas − three teams on the Commodores' 2026 schedule − did not receive any votes.
Vanderbilt was picked to finish 13th in the SEC's preseason media poll.
The Commodores will be without two of the faces of their program, Diego Pavia and Eli Stowers. Instead, 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis is expected to take the reins.
