Florida football extended a scholarship offer to 2028 quarterback prospect Hudson West after a strong showing at the program's Friday Night Lights event back in June. Since then, Jon Sumrall and Co. have made the three-star recruit a top priority, with multiple staffers focused on bringing the in-state product into the fold.

"They've been really consistent. It really has been awesome. They've been really good about it," West told Swamp247. "Different guys, player personnel all the way up. (Jon) Sumrall texted me. I mean, it's definitely been awesome."

Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner has spearheaded the Gators' efforts to recruit the 6-foot-5-inch, 190-pound passer out of Sarasota (Florida), impressing the young prospect with his passion for the gridiron.

"I definitely can tell he's a competitor, which is awesome because, again, like I said, I'm a very big competitor. I don't like to lose, and sometimes it happens," West noted. "But I like to win, and when I walked into Florida, he wanted to win, and he wanted to win now, and that was something I really liked about him."

Also in the mix is quarterbacks coach Joe Craddock, who was the one who handed West his scholarship offer back in June.

"It's been awesome. We have a good relationship. Definitely him and my mom have a good relationship, too," West offered. "It's kind of like a family thing."

West plans on returning to Gainesville to catch a game this fall, with no specific matchup determined as of yet. Predictably, he is particularly interested in seeing how the team's current quarterbacks perform on the field.

"I'm excited and I'm curious to see how the quarterbacks play, what the offense looks like, how they use their weapons, how they use the backs, how they use the quarterbacks," West stated.

Hudson West's recruiting summary

West is ranked No. 523 overall and No. 34 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the Rivals industry ranking has him at Nos. 525 and 43, respectively. Florida is the only school listed on On3's recruiting prediction machine with a 99.3% chance of signing him.

Florida and Kentucky are the only two SEC schools that have offered a scholarship to West, while other Sunshine State institutions — Florida State, South Florida, Florida Atlantic and Florida International — have also extended invitations to join their programs.
