2026 TCU Football Season Preview: Cornerbacks

TCU may be losing veteran corners from last season, but the Horned Frogs are reloading at the position for 2026.
Vernon Glover Jr., a redshirt junior who came back from a knee injury in 2025, returns to be the team’s No. 1 cornerback this fall. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Dickinson, Texas started all 13 games and totaled 41 tackles, 30 solo stops, seven pass breakups and an interception. On the other side, TCU is losing Channing Canada, but the Horned Frogs bring back true sophomore Gil Jackson, a tall and rangy corner at 6 feet 3 inches and 200 pounds. Jackson made 12 appearances and saw considerable time in the team’s Alamo Bowl victory over USC.
TCU’s depth took a slight hit over the offseason, with players like Avery Helm (UNLV), Cameron Jamerson (Boise State) and Jonah Martinez (Southern Miss) all leaving through the transfer portal. The portal also bolstered the team’s forces, as the Horned Frogs nabbed Teon Parks from Colorado and Kalen Carroll from Central Michigan. Both players have Power 4 experience, with the senior Parks recording 21 total tackles over 10 games for the Buffaloes after starting his career at Illinois State. Carroll, a redshirt senior who kicked his career off with Cincinnati, started 14 games for the Bearcats from 2023-24 and made 13 starts for the Chippewas in 2025.
The Horned Frogs should have a strong four-man rotation of Glover Jr., Jackson, Carroll and Parks. Beyond them, however, TCU brings back Devondre McGee (junior) and a trio of underclassmen in Deon Mays (redshirt freshman), Micah Strickland (redshirt freshman) and Brock King (true freshman). Strickland is a former four-star recruit, while McGee has 18 total tackles and 20 appearances over his last two seasons in Fort Worth.
