Georgia Bulldogs Under Serious Pressure This Season to Reverse Playoff Woes

The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the regular season in just a few short weeks with fall camp in full swing and the team working towards the common goal of a national championship.

For as successful as the program has been over the last few years, the postseason has not been nearly as kind as the SEC and the regular season. In fact, after not making the final edition of the four-team College Football Playoff in 2023, the last two years have seen first round eliminations after securing a bye with SEC Championship victories.

Falling to both Notre Dame and Ole Miss the last two years, Georgia has had crushing finishes to the season and those losses are fresh on the mind at the start of fall camp just as they should be. In terms of a national perception though, getting things right is critical this year, and while a championship is the goal, making at least a run in the playoff field is an absolute must for the Bulldogs.

Georgia Hungry to Change National Perception Outside of SEC

It's no secret that the Big 10 Conference has found a way to win the last three national titles, impressively doing it with three different teams and leading to some absolutely wild discourse across the sport. Despite the SEC still being the most talented and deepest conference in the nation, many have openly wondered whether the Big 10 has lapped the rest of the sport.

While the postseason success and national titles are undoubtedly a convincing argument, top to bottom, the SEC is still the deepest league in college football. Regardless, the masses see titles and think that's all that matters, and the Dawgs are carrying the torch for the rest of the conference.

Beyond just the SEC vs. Big 10 narrative though, in just three short years some have forgotten about how tremendous this program is. What better way to remind them than a deep playoff run coming off another SEC title and pushing for a national title?

Georgia has become a machine under Kirby Smart, but if they want to stop hearing disrespect, then they need to prove it when it counts. The truth is that winning in this sport is incredibly difficult, but teams are remembered by championships, and it's time for the Bulldogs to at the very least compete for one.

The pieces are there, but with those pieces comes the pressure to get it done. Time will tell if they can do it.
