Notre Dame trending to land 2028 5-star Texas WR, son of NFL star

Notre Dame has set its sights on the No. 1 player in the state of Texas in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
According to Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish are ramping up their pursuit (subscription required) of Jaylen Addai. Addai is a 5-foot, 11-inch and 165-pound wide receiver who plays at Shadow Creek High School. Addai is regarded as a fluid route-runner with size and ball skills to be a dynamite outside receiver at the collegiate level.
As a sophomore, Addai caught 37 passes for 779 yards and 14 touchdowns, production that vaulted him to five-star status.
Addai is the son of former LSU and Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai. The younger Addai has built quite the offer list consisting of the sport's blue bloods. Programs like Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Texas and many others are also trying to lock down the wide receiver.
Despite the crowded field, Notre Dame is pursuing this recruitment aggressively. Addai has already made a campus visit to South Bend and had this to say, “Notre Dame as a whole stands out itself,” Addai said. “The fans, the school, the coaches. It’s a great environment for a student-athlete.”
Also it appears the new facilities in South Bend have made their impression as well. Addai noted in the article that “Honestly, the weight room amazed me,” he said. “The upgrade showed that the school is trying to invest in their players and give them great opportunities to get bigger, faster, stronger and a great football player all around.”
Notre Dame is hard at work securing one of the top classes in the 2027 cycle, but with their aggressive pursuit of Addai it appears that momentum won't be slowing down anytime soon.
