FSU edge target to attend ACC opener vs. SMU

Programs across the country are recruiting Kameron McGee, and the Florida State Seminoles became the latest school to offer him a scholarship back in June.

FSU has emerged as a contender for the four-star edge rusher, and he has reportedly scheduled his first visit to Tallahassee. According to Allen Trieu of Rivals, he will be visiting for FSU's game against the SMU Mustangs on Sept. 7 in Doak Campbell Stadium. Trieu added that the Seminoles are one of the schools "recruiting him the hardest."

They are not the only school he will be visiting during the 2026 college football season. He will also see the Texas Longhorns, Oregon Ducks, and Georgia Bulldogs.

McGee is ranked as the No. 18 overall player and No. 6 edge in the Rivals industry ranking. The Chicago product is also the No. 2 player from Illinois.

He is coming off an exceptional sophomore season at Brothers Rice, which he helped lead to a state championship. McGee finished the year with 54 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 21.0 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback pressures, nine pass breakups, and a forced fumble. He was named a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American for his great work and will be looking to take another step as a junior.

The Seminoles already have two commitments in the 2028 recruiting cycle in athlete Chayse Brown and tight end Troy Silberzahn. While edge coach Nick Williams has landed some good prospects in the 2027 cycle, FSU has not signed an edge like McGee in quite some time, and he is someone they can build their recruiting class around. The first step in doing that will be impressing him on his visit.
