UCF Predicted To Finish 2026 Season With 6-6 Record

ESPN's matchup predictor has the UCF Knights ending next season with a 6-6 record, which breaks a two-year bowl drought.

It's a feasible achievement for a program that brought back 61% of its production and signed over 30 players in January's transfer portal. They may be underrated, too, as Coach Scott Frost said this year's team is reminiscent of the undefeated 2017 squad he coached.

UCF is predicted to win two of its first three games. Bethune-Cookman and Georgia State are two teams in the Group of Five, and the Knights have dominated weaker competition over the years.

They have a 39.5-point win differential against non-Power Four opponents, including an average of 48.5 points in those matchups.

Week 2's matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers is a swing game. The Knights are favored to lose at 70%, and they are traveling to Acrisure Stadium. Road games were their Achilles' heel last season, as they went winless on the road.

Pittsburgh still has Mason Heintschel at quarterback and Ja'Kyrian Turner at running back, team leaders at their respective positions. The team lost some valuable upperclassmen who produced at a high level, but has young talent stepping up in their absence.

In conference play, UCF is favored to win against the Iowa State Cyclones (68.1%) and the Arizona State Sun Devils (53.6%).

Texas Christian (46%) and Baylor (45.3%) are the swing games in the Big 12. The matchup against the Bears is the annual Space Game and a Friday night game, claimed as one of the most interesting weekday games in Week 9.

Last time coach Dave Aranda and Frost matched up, Aranda's squad blew out Frost's 30-3.

Baylor's quarterback, Sawyer Robertson, did most of his damage in the first quarter, throwing two touchdown passes and nearly 200 yards. Tight end Michael Trigg and wide receivers Josh Cameron and Kole Wilson all caught a touchdown pass from Robertson.

UCF's offense struggled to get in scoring position as the team could not extend drives. Tayven Jackson threw two interceptions in the second half, and Baylor held Myles Montgomery to 74 rushing yards.

It was the second-largest point differential in a loss for the Knights. The largest point differential in a loss was 39 points against the No. 6-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Finishing 6-6 makes the season a success. However, UCF could pull out surprise victories with its talented roster, led by Maxwell Award Watch List quarterback Alonza Barnett III and Mackey Award Watch List tight end Dylan Wade.
