Clemsonfootball’s offense is getting a lift this week as Cade Klubnik finally looks close to himself again. After spending several games fighting through lingering injuries, the senior quarterback is entering the weekend in a noticeably better place physically.

The ankle issue he suffered at Boston College back on Oct. 11 forced him to miss the SMU game, and the quad bruise he picked up in his return against Duke made the following week extremely challenging. Klubnik managed to play through the discomfort, but his movement was limited for stretches while he worked to get back to full speed.

On Wednesday, during his last media availability before Saturday’s game with Furman, Dabo Swinney said the improvement is obvious and that Klubnik is moving around far more naturally now.

“He’s better,” Swinney said. “He’s the best he’s been in a while, for sure. Way better than he was two weeks ago. Better than he was last week.”

Through nine games, Klubnik has completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 2,323 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he’s added three rushing scores while picking up 111 yards on the ground.

Clemson and Furman will meet at Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on The CW, and the Tigers expect a more comfortable, more mobile Klubnik guiding the offense.
