Alabama May Be Closing In on Something Special as Stunning 2028 Recruiting Momentum Continues to Build

The future continues to look incredibly bright for Alabama football.
While Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff are putting the finishing touches on what is already shaping up to be an impressive 2027 recruiting class, the Crimson Tide have wasted little time turning their attention toward the 2028 cycle. And if the latest recruiting buzz is any indication, Alabama could once again be positioning itself to sign one of the nation’s premier classes.
According to Rivals national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons, Alabama is building significant momentum with several of the country’s top prospects, including a pair of recruits who now appear to be trending heavily toward Tuscaloosa.
Alabama picks up major recruiting momentum
Alabama already owns one of the nation’s top 2028 recruiting classes with seven commitments, highlighted by quarterbacks Charles Scott and Kingston Preyear, linebacker Tyseer Young, and offensive tackle Anthony Blaylock Jr.
Now, Simmons has logged new predictions for two additional priority targets.
One is elite in-state linebacker Nehemiah McCary of Maplesville, who has made it no secret where his heart has been throughout his recruitment.
“It’s always been my dream school,” McCary told Rivals. “I always wanted to play for Alabama.”
That connection has only grown stronger thanks to his relationship with outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson.
“He coaches me like I’m already one of his,” McCary said. “He’s trying to make me a better man and a better player.”
McCary has visited Tuscaloosa multiple times, communicates regularly with Alabama’s coaching staff, and Simmons believes the Crimson Tide remain firmly in control of his recruitment.
The second prediction came for Huntsville offensive lineman Joey Fleming, another player Alabama has prioritized for months.
Fleming has spent considerable time around the Crimson Tide program and has developed strong relationships with the coaching staff. Rivals now believes Alabama has established itself as the clear early favorite for one of the state’s top offensive line prospects.
Alabama remains in strong position for several elite prospects
The good news for Alabama doesn’t stop with McCary and Fleming.
According to Simmons, the Crimson Tide have positioned themselves well with several other blue-chip prospects entering the high school football season.
Among the offensive targets generating significant buzz are explosive Jasper running back Zion Coger, Wetumpka tight end Kaleb Ballard, and highly regarded offensive lineman Samuel Bailey. Bailey’s recruitment is expected to feature stiff competition from Auburn, Ohio State, and Florida, but Alabama continues to make him one of its top priorities.
Defensively, Alabama continues to recruit at an elite level.
The Crimson Tide remain one of the leading contenders for nationally ranked edge rushers Cassell Cruickshank, Tyzon Swann, and in-state standout Keoni Snipes. Alabama also remains firmly in the mix for Parker safety CJ Craig-James, despite heavy interest from programs such as Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Auburn and Ohio State.
Former Alabama native Tyler Boyd, now playing in Georgia, also remains a major defensive back target for the Crimson Tide.
Another elite Alabama recruiting class could be taking shape
Although National Signing Day for the 2028 class remains years away, Alabama’s early work is once again turning heads.
Landing commitments from McCary and Fleming would strengthen what is already one of the country’s most impressive recruiting classes while reinforcing Alabama’s emphasis on building from the inside out with elite offensive and defensive line talent.
If DeBoer and his staff can continue stacking recruiting victories while producing another successful season on the field this fall, the Crimson Tide appear well positioned to challenge for the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class in the 2028 cycle.
For Alabama fans, the latest projections offer another reminder that the foundation for the program’s future is already being built, and it may be even stronger than many expected.
