Outside of one obvious exception, the Washington Huskies are quickly making the case as one of the best wide receiver factories in college football.

Since coach Jedd Fisch arrived in Seattle, the program has signed five four-star recruits at the position and has three more on their way come December in the 2027 class. Both Huskies' wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings and Fisch know their success rate on turning high school pass catchers into NFL draft picks is barely scratching the surface.

"I think the biggest thing is understanding—for high school kids—what situation you're putting yourself in. When you have a head coach like coach Fisch, who knows the receiver game so well, it makes it a special place to play football," Cummings said on Tuesday.

During fall camp in 2025, Fisch was hands-on with the UW receivers—even more so than the spring—including Denzel Boston, his second consecutive draft with a selection on day one or two and third straight draft with a receiver taken dating back to his time at Arizona, to emphasize every step in the route.

"You know that if you come to the University of Washington–you got to give Ohio State their roses because of what they've done, right? But when you look at the development that Coach Fisch can bring to the wide receivers, there's not many teams in the country that can match that," Cummings stated.

"We know. We deliver the message–the combination of coach Fisch, myself, coach Koa (Kekoa Crawford) and coach (Luke) Del Rio, you got four receiver coaches in this room that are working with you every day. So the guys understand that. They know that they'll have a chance to be developed, and they'll be pushed."

Both Boston and 2024 first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan, Fisch and Cummings' first major receiver signee in their three seasons in Tucson, are two examples of what the end result looks. In part, it's also why the coaches have put an emphasis on stacking long, tall bodies in the room with freshmen Blaise LaVista, Jordan Clay and Trez Davis, and transfers Christian Moss and Bodpegn Miller, being the latest examples.

Still, for every skyscraper outside receiver, returning sophomore Dezmen Roebuck and potentially Rashid Williams are viewed as the next examples of also valuing shorter receivers, as four-star incoming freshman Mason James has shown.

In all, from the inside out and vice versa, Fisch and Co. have staked a high value on putting the best skill players out for junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr. and future quarterbacks to flourish with.
