The 2026 college football season is almost here, which means it is time to start making predictions that will probably look either brilliant or completely ridiculous by December.

The Power Four conference races are loaded with legitimate contenders, but four championship matchups stand out entering the season.

Here are our predictions for who reaches—and wins—each Power Four conference championship.

SEC: Georgia Beats LSU

Prediction: Georgia over LSU

The SEC is probably the hardest conference to predict because there are so many teams capable of reaching Atlanta.

But we’re going with Georgia and LSU.

LSU has enough talent to make a serious run through the conference, but Georgia remains the safer choice when it comes to winning the whole thing. Kirby Smart has built the Bulldogs into a program where championship expectations exist every single season.

Georgia is coming off another SEC championship in 2025, and the Bulldogs enter 2026 ranked among the country’s elite once again.

LSU making it to Atlanta wouldn’t be surprising whatsoever, but beating Georgia there is a different challenge.

Until somebody consistently knocks the Bulldogs off their throne, we’re sticking with Georgia.

SEC Champion: Georgia

Big Ten: Oregon Beats Ohio State

Prediction: Oregon over Ohio State

This could be one of the best games of championship weekend.

Ohio State will once again enter the season with one of the most talented rosters in America, but Oregon will finish the job in the Big Ten.

The Ducks are coming off a season in which they reached the College Football Playoff and destroyed defending Big 12 champion Texas Tech 23-0 in the Orange Bowl quarterfinal before their run ended. Dante Moore returns as one of the biggest names in the sport and gives Oregon exactly what it needs to win a championship.

Ohio State is going to be right there as usual, but Dan Lanning has built Oregon into a program that doesn’t have to take a backseat to the Buckeyes anymore.

We’re taking the Ducks in a heavyweight fight.

Big Ten Champion: Oregon

Big 12: BYU Gets Revenge on Texas Tech

Prediction: BYU over Texas Tech

How about a rematch?

Texas Tech defeated BYU in last season’s Big 12 Championship Game, winning the conference and securing a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff.

We’re predicting the same two programs get back to Arlington in 2026.

Only this time, the result changes.

Texas Tech has established itself as one of the biggest threats in the Big 12, but BYU shouldn’t be overlooked after coming painfully close to a playoff appearance last season.

Getting back to the championship game would already prove BYU belongs among the conference’s elite.

Beating Texas Tech would finish the job.

Big 12 Champion: BYU

ACC: Miami Beats Pittsburgh

Prediction: Miami over Pittsburgh

The ACC might be the most wide-open conference of the four.

Miami is the team we’re trusting to finally take control.

The Hurricanes reached the College Football Playoff last season after finishing inside the final top 10, but they didn’t win the ACC championship.

That changes in 2026.

We’re predicting Pittsburgh emerges as the surprise team on the other side and reaches Charlotte. Pitt might not have the preseason hype of some of the ACC’s biggest brands, but that’s exactly what makes this prediction interesting.

Miami simply has too much talent in the end.

After watching Duke shock the conference and win the ACC last season, we’re expecting Miami to restore some order and finally leave Charlotte with the trophy.

ACC Champion: Miami

Our Power Four Championship Picks

SEC: Georgia over LSU
Big Ten: Oregon over Ohio State
Big 12: BYU over Texas Tech
ACC: Miami over Pittsburgh

There will obviously be surprises along the way. That’s college football.

But if these four predictions come true, championship weekend would feature some massive matchups, multiple potential playoff teams and a couple of revenge opportunities.

Georgia stays on top of the SEC. Oregon takes down Ohio State. BYU gets revenge against Texas Tech. And Miami finally captures the ACC.

Now we wait to see how wrong—or right—we are.
