The Washington Huskies football team's recruiting has seen a newfound fire since head coach Jedd Fisch took the reigns of the program.

Under Fisch, the Huskies have established roots home in the Pacific Northwest, at the coach's old stomping grounds in Arizona, ventured into California and has made some stops in Texas and the east coast along the way.

This has led to success for Washington. The 2026 recruiting class, which features as least four players who could be consistent true freshmen starters on the team this season, ranked 12th in the country according to 247Sports — a program record.

The 2027 recruiting class currently ranks 24th in the country.

The Huskies seem primed to keep the ball rolling in the 2028 class and are currently predicted to land one of the top edge rushers in the country, Jalanie George.

George attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., continuing the pipeline that Fisch has established. Fisch is high school teammates with two UW Class of '27 recruits: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney.

Washington extended offers to several blue chip prospects outside of George while simultaneously attempting to lay recruiting roots down in the Midwest. Specifically, the Huskies have attempted to kick the door down on landing players from Cass Technical High School in Detroit.

The Huskies have offered several players from the school, including five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II and four-star wide receiver Mylan Griggs.

Washington seems to have missed out on Tabron, who is set to announce his commitment Aug. 15 and seems to be heavily favoring the Texas A&M Aggies. Griggs appears to be leaning towards staying in-state with the Michigan Wolverines.

However, even with those two off the board, it hasn't stopped Washington from offering five-star offensive lineman Antijuan Wilkes Jr., who announced he received an offer from the Huskies on his official "X" account Friday.

Wilkes is one of the best offensive tackles in the country. Capable of playing on the right side of the line or the left, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound lineman ranks as the 13th-best player in the country, the best offensive tackle and the best player in Michigan per the 247Sports Composite.

Rivals; Industry rankings has Wilkes as the 11th-best player in the class, the best offensive tackle and the best player in Michigan.

Wilkes currently seems to be favoring staying in the Midwest. On3 Sports' prediction model has the Wolverines with the likeliest odds to land him at 28.1%, the Michigan State Spartans with the second-best odds at 24.6% and the Ohio State Buckeyes with the third-likeliest odds at 11%. The Missouri Tigers and Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles are other teams attempting to make a push for him.

It'll be hard to convince Wilkes to come to the Pacific Northwest amidst interest from local universities, but the recent offer from Washington could indicate the recruiting staff amidst his recruiting staff is confident in potentially making a late push for the blue-chipper.
