It’s always a what-if game for recruiting, but we know how it turned out for Notre Dame in the 2025 class at quarterback.
Mississippi 5-star Deuce Knight had committed to the Irish in September of 2023, and was with the group until he decided to flip his verbal in October of 2024 to Auburn. Notre Dame would eventually sign Blake Hebert, and it’s hard to say that anyone would be unhappy with the current situation.
CJ Carr hasn’t looked back since being named the starter a few weeks before the season started, and most likely Knight would have been a back-up this fall. Well, that doesn’t look like it will be the case for him with the Tigers as interim head coach DJ Durkin confirmed rumors this morning that he was going to make his first-career start.
It will interesting to see how Knight performs during his first chance at extended playing time, as he’s completed 2-of-5 passes for 20-yards so far this fall.
