Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss AD Keith Carter to meet Nov. 21 amid LSU, Florida drama, per report

OXFORD — Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin will meet with athletic director Keith Carter on Nov. 21, according to On3’s Chris Low on Nov. 20.
Kiffin is the center of speculation in the college football world. He is a target for both LSU and Florida and the Tigers and Gators look for head coaches. Kiffin has not commented on whether he will stay for a seventh season at Ole Miss or take another job at an SEC rival.
Ole Miss (10-1, 6-1 SEC) is on an open week and will finish the season at Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28 (11 a.m., ESPN).
Although Kiffin denied reports of Ole Miss handing him an ultimatum to decide his future, it would benefit Ole Miss to get clarity on Kiffin’s next step soon. Players are doing their best to avoid the distraction as the Rebels close in on making their first College Football Playoff appearance.
A meeting with Carter is not uncommon. Kiffin said Nov. 19 on an SEC teleconference that he is in daily communication with the AD. Kiffin said they were in the same hot yoga class on the morning of Nov. 19.
“I’m going to stay with what I’ve done for six years, which isn’t talk about other jobs and that situation,” Kiffin said. “Keith (Carter) and I, I’ve seen him twice already today. Keith and I have a great relationship, we communicate daily on a lot of things.”
Kiffin said he expects to coach in the Egg Bowl. As for games beyond that, he deferred to staying in the moment.
“I love it here, and it’s been amazing and we’re in a season that’s the greatest run in the history of Ole Miss, at this point, having never been at this point,” Kiffin said. “So, I think it’s really exciting. I think Saturday night was amazing and so, I’m just living in the moment, that it’s amazing.”
