The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 26 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 26 at LSU:

No. 26 – LB Charles Ross II

Ross is a young and developing linebacker who worked his way onto the field as a true freshman via special teams. That should be a great sign for his work ethic as he grows into a future key piece of this defense.

Coming out of high school, Ross was a four-star recruit who 247Sports included in their "2025 Freaks" list, which is reserved for the best athletes in the country. He was a track star in high school who ran a 10.36 100-meter dash.

Ross has logged one career tackle at linebacker, and it came during a short stint in the bowl game against the Houston Cougars. He doesn't seem to be close to breaking into that linebacker rotation, but he's such an elite athlete that Blake Baker will continue to get him onto the field however he can.

No. 26 – WR Nolon Buckels

Buckels is a freshman walk-on wideout. He's probably not going to find the field during games, but seems to have been a great athlete in high school and should be a valuable member of the scout team.

While walk-ons don't get the most shine, they are important in getting the team prepared to play week in and week out. Some walk-ons also earn their way to a scholarship with hard work and dedication.
