Oregon Ducks Get Major Update on Top 2027 Recruiting Target

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are on the brink of achieving one of the best recruiting classes in recent memory.

Currently, the Ducks are the No. 4-ranked program in the 2027 recruiting cycle, with the pair of five-star commits in EDGE Rashad Streets and wide receiver Dakota Guerrant leading the charge. Still, Lanning and the coaching staff have unfinished business in this year's recruiting cycle, with one highly-touted target remaining uncommitted this offseason.

According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Monday afternoon, 2027 four-star linebacker Brayton Feister will announce his commitment on Friday, Aug 14, with the Ducks among four teams in the mix.

Could Oregon Land Feister?

Feister, as one of the top remaining targets for the Ducks, has quickly made a name for himself within the 2027 recruiting cycle. As of the month, he is the No. 7 prospect in Ohio and the No. 9-ranked athlete, per 247Sports' Composite.

Throughout his first three seasons at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, OH, Feister managed to be a dominant running back for the Knights, while also being the anchor on defense as a middle linebacker. His stout play during his junior season paved the way for him to be named the Ohio Division II Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a Mr. Ohio Football finalist in 2025. But his incredible run at Hoban will be continued at Massillon High School, as Feister recently announced that he will be transferring high schools this offseason.

However, in order for Lanning and the Ducks to land the prolific defender, the program must fight off the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the California Golden Bears. Feister took official visits to Oregon, Georgia, and Cal, but the Buckeyes could pose a real threat despite their last-minute push.

Luckily for Ducks fans, the program currently holds a 94.1 percent chance to land Feister this offseason, according to Rivals' Team Prediction. In addition to being the heavy favorites, both Rivals' Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith have also predicted Feister to commit to the Ducks.

If Oregon does land a commitment from Feister, he would become Lanning's 25th commit in the 2027 class, as well as the third linebacker commit alongside four-stars Toa Satele and Brandon Lockley.
