Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has seen his life completely change over the past calendar year.

After starring at the Division II level, he arrived to Ole Miss as the backup quarterback to Austin Simmons to begin last season.

Fast forward to now, he's seen as one of the best players in college football and will have some significant expectations on his shoulders after having Ole Miss just one play away from a spot in the National Championship last season.

Here are three things Chambliss will need to achieve this fall in order for his 2026 season to be viewed as a no-doubt success.

Heisman Trophy Finalist

Chambliss doesn't have to win the Heisman Trophy in order to label his 2026 season a success, but the expectation should at least be to get to New York.

Seen as one of the best players at the game's most important positions, there's no reason to think why he can't earn a spot as a Heisman Finalist, especially considering the way he ended last season.

Set for a full season of snaps instead of starting the year as the backup, Chambliss will be able to boost his numbers significantly, something that is certainly valued in every Heisman race. But most importantly, he will need to put together some Heisman-level moments while stacking wins for the Rebels if he wants to be the one holding that prestigious trophy in December.

SEC Championship Appearance

Ole Miss has yet to play in the SEC Championship since the game was first established in 1992. Even the Texas Longhorns, who joined the conference before the 2024 season, have made it to Atlanta before the Rebels.

That has to end this season. For Chambliss, getting the Rebels to their first-ever SEC title game would be a major accomplishment.

Winning it would obviously be the goal, but it would be hard to find any fault with Chambliss being able to get Ole Miss over that hump.

At Least One College Football Playoff Win

After winning two College Football Playoff games last season, it would be seen as a major disappointment if the Rebels can't win at least one, let alone missing out on the CFP altogether.

Chambliss could end up being a victim of his own success. If he's not able to get Ole Miss back into reach of a national title, the season could be viewed as a failure.
