Perhaps no position in football is more synonymous with toughness and physicality than the offensive line.
Tasked with protecting the quarterback and creating running lanes, offensive linemen are the foundation of any successful offense. While they may not always get the spotlight, having an elite offensive line can be the difference between an offense that sputters and one that thrives.
Here's a look at the top 15 offensive linemen in the country heading into the start of the 2026 high school football season.
1. Maxwell Hiller
High School: Coatesville (PA)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Florida
Breakdown: The Florida Gators landed one of the biggest prizes in the 2027 class when the Gators secured Hiller's commitment in April. The five-star interior offensive lineman is ranked among the best players in the country and brings the size, athleticism and physicality to become an immediate building block for Jon Sumrall and new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein.
2. Mark Matthews
High School: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Texas A&M
Breakdown: The Aggies kept their hot streak in the Sunshine State going, scoring a massive recruiting win by keeping one of South Florida's best players out of Miami's backyard. Matthews, a five-star tackle and the No. 1 OT in the 2027 class according to 247Sports, gives the Aggies a long, powerful tackle who has already played at a high level against some of the nation's best competition.
3. Kaeden Penny
High School: Bixby (OK)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Oklahoma
Breakdown: Penny opted to stay in state, committing to Brett Venables and Oklahoma over Ohio State and LSU. Penny has the athleticism and versatility to play multiple spots along the offensive line, making him a particularly intriguing fit in Norman as Oklahoma continues to build one of the nation's top young offensive fronts.
4. Kennedy Brown
High School: Kingwood (Humble, TX)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Texas A&M
Breakdown: Mike Elko and Co. landed another elite offensive lineman in Brown, who committed to Texas A&M in April after piling up more than 40 scholarship offers. At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds with tremendous length and experience at both tackle spots, Brown gives the Aggies a versatile piece who could eventually settle in wherever they need him most along the offensive front.
5. Ismael Camara
High School: Gilmer (TX)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Texas
Breakdown: Steve Sarkisian and Texas won a major recruiting battle for one of the most unique offensive linemen in the country when Camara committed to the Longhorns in July. The 6-foot-6, 340-plus-pounder came to the United States from France and has played only one full varsity season, but his combination of size, movement skills and strength gives Texas a massive developmental piece with enormous upside.
6. Jake Hildebrand
High School: Basha (Chandler, AZ)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Arizona State
Breakdown: Arizona State landed one of the biggest in-state recruiting wins of the 2027 cycle when Hildebrand committed to the Sun Devils in May. The four-star offensive tackle is ranked as one of the top players in Arizona and gives ASU a 6-foot-6, 290-pound building block who can develop into a high-level tackle in Kenny Dillingham's offense.
7. Albert Simien
High School: Sam Houston (Lake Charles, LA)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Notre Dame
Breakdown: Notre Dame won a major recruiting battle for Simien, beating out LSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska and Ole Miss for one of the nation's top interior offensive linemen. The five-star is ranked No. 2 at his position in the 2027 class, and his combination of length, strength and mobility should make him an ideal fit in the Irish's physical offensive line under Marcus Freeman.
8. Oluwasemilore Olubobola
High School: St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, NJ)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Notre Dame
Breakdown: The Fighting Irish continued to secure highly coveted offensive linemen, adding another elite piece to the line when Olubobola chose the Fighting Irish over Miami and Texas A&M. The five-star tackle is viewed as one of the top offensive tackles in the country and brings a 6-foot-6-plus frame, tremendous length and the athleticism to potentially develop into a monster in South Bend.
9. James Halter
High School: Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Notre Dame
Breakdown: Halter is following in his father's footsteps after committing to Notre Dame, where his father Jordan played offensive line in the early 1990s. The four-star tackle chose the Irish over a long list of Power Four programs and gives Notre Dame another physical, developmental lineman who has continued to grow into his 6-foot-5, 270-pound frame.
10. Caden Moss
High School: Jackson Academy (Jackson, MS)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Ohio State
Breakdown: Moss gave Ryan Day and Ohio State a big out-of-state recruiting win when he picked the Buckeyes over Ole Miss, Kentucky, LSU, Oregon and Tennessee. The four-star tackle is ranked among the top 75 players in the country and, at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, gives Ohio State another massive piece for an offensive line class that has quickly become one of the best in the country.
11. Maui Tonata
High School: Orem (UT)
Class: 2028
College Commitment: Uncommitted
Breakdown: One of the biggest names in the 2028 class, Tonata is already being viewed as the nation’s top offensive tackle. The five-star prospect has a loaded list of schools recruiting him, including Alabama, Oklahoma, BYU, USC and Oregon, and his combination of size and athleticism makes him a potential cornerstone tackle for whichever program wins his recruitment.
12. Antijuan Wilkes Jr.
High School: Cass Technical (Detroit, MI)
Class: 2028
College Commitment: Uncommitted
Breakdown: Michigan has made Wilkes a priority in one of the most competitive recruitments in the country, but the Wolverines have plenty of competition for the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2028 class. Wilkes has already visited Ann Arbor four times and is scheduled for another trip this fall, while Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and Miami remain firmly in the mix for the five-star Detroit product.
13. Elisha Mueller
High School: St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Class: 2028
College Commitment: Uncommitted
Breakdown: USC and UCLA have made Mueller a priority as both look to build their respective offensive line classes in 2028, but the Trojans and Bruins will have plenty of competition for the four-star interior lineman. Mueller transferred from Servite to St. John Bosco and is ranked among the top 10 interior linemen nationally.
14. Joey Fleming
High School: Huntsville (AL)
Class: 2028
College Commitment: Uncommitted
Breakdown: Alabama has emerged as one of the early favorites for Fleming, who is the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2028 class and one of the best overall prospects in the country. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder has more than 20 offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Florida, giving the Crimson Tide a chance to keep one of the state’s premier recruits home rather than go to an SEC rival.
15. Kellen Wymer
High School: Liberty Center (OH)
Class: 2027
College Commitment: Ohio State
Breakdown: Wymer opted to stay in state and commit to the Buckeyes, giving Ryan Day a big win over Notre Dame and Michigan amongst a host of other Power Four programs. The four-star tackle is ranked among the top offensive linemen in the 2027 class and gives Ohio State another elite piece down the road.
