Will Compton shares confident prediction for Nebraska-Indiana game

Former Nebraska linebacker Will Compton is feeling really confident about the Nebraska football program going into the 2026 college football season.

Compton appeared on the “Crain & Cone” show and discussed his expectations for the 2026 season. He’s expecting a good year from the team.

“9-3 is my floor,” Compton said.

He added a little later in the show that he thinks Nebraska will “clip” Indiana when the two teams square off this year.

“We will clip Indiana week six when they come to Nebraska,” Compton said.

It’s a gutsy prediction from Compton since Indiana is the reigning national champs, but it speaks to his confidence in Nebraska for the upcoming season.

The 2026 season will be Matt Rhule’s fourth season as head coach after leading Nebraska to a 7-6 record last year. Rhule has compiled a 19-19 overall record in three prior seasons with the program.

Nebraska will open its 2026 campaign against Ohio on Sept. 5 at noon ET on FS1. The program’s first Big Ten game will be at Michigan State on Sept. 26 before facing off against Indiana at home on Oct. 10.

A start time for the Nebraska-Indiana game has yet to be revealed, but it could be a night game if both teams get off to fast starts.
