The rapper says her new ambassador role is a “full-circle moment” after relying on Old Navy for her high school looks.
Brand ambassadors usually open with something safe. Cardi B opened with a confession.
Speaking on Instagram Live Wednesday, Aug. 12, the Bronx rapper thanked Old Navy for what she called holding her down, then explained exactly how far back the relationship goes. According to Cardi, she used to steal from the retailer throughout high school and never got caught. Without those hauls, she added, she wouldn’t have been the freshest girl in her school.
Billboard reported the remarks came as Cardi settles into her role fronting Old Navy’s fall 2026 denim campaign, a pairing she described as full circle for obvious reasons.
“Thank you Old Navy for holding me down. In high school, I used to steal from you guys all the time. So it’s just a full-circle moment that I’m an ambassador for Old Navy. I used to steal all the time and I never got caught. If it wasn’t for you guys, I probably wasn’t the freshest bi–h in school,” shared the star hilariously.
The praise wasn’t purely nostalgic. Cardi framed the partnership around a practical problem she’s discussed publicly before: finding denim that accommodates her frame.
She described herself as 5-foot-3 and slim through the waist with proportions most luxury labels simply don’t cut for. Old Navy, in her assessment, actually accounts for bodies like hers.
The campaign itself, a Western-themed spot released Aug. 4, features Cardi alongside content creators Wisdom Kaye and Quen Blackwell. The high-waisted cuffed jeans she wears in it retail at $49.99 and come in seven colorways.
Her professional stretch has been strong otherwise. Billboard noted that “Ah Ha,” her first single of 2026, entered the Hot 100 at No. 25, and the RIAA certified “WAP” diamond earlier this month, giving the 33-year-old her fourth song to reach that threshold.
