Former college football player and sportscaster Kirk Herbstreit got to see iconic coach and analyst Lee Corso recently, and the two were all smiles in their link-up even if the GameDay analyst lost their “battle.”
Herbstreit revealed that he met up with Corso in Orlando, Florida, and the coach wanted to “come say hello” to him. Of course, he obliged, and Corso, 91, even insisted he drive over to him. While he tried to put up a fight, Corso won.

“[It] was SO GOOD to see him and share a few laughs and get some advice that he can only provide,” Herbstreit wrote. “He looks and sounds amazing! Love ya[,] LC!!”
Of course, Corso is best known for his time on ESPN’s College GameDay program. He was part of it since its inception in 1987 before retiring in 2025.
Before his broadcasting career, he was the head coach at Louisville, Indiana, and Northern Illinois. However, he finished his career as a head coach with a record under .500. He also coached the Orlando Renegades in the USFL in 1985. Additionally, he served as a quarterbacks and cornerbacks coach at Maryland and Navy, respectively.
Herbstreit, meanwhile, is one of the analysts on College GameDay. He also serves as a color commentator for ESPN and ABC’s college football games. Herbstreit also covers Thursday Night Football games for the NFL on Prime Video. He is paired with Al Michaels, who previously was a sportscaster for Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football, in the booth.
He was also a former player before his career in broadcasting. Herbstreit was a quarterback at Ohio State from 1989 to 1993 after playing high school football at Centerville in Ohio.
During his time at Ohio State, he only threw five touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He played in a total of 38 games throughout his collegiate career.
Herbstreit also lends his voice to EA Sports’ College Football games. He is one of the main broadcasters featured in the video games.
