The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as the No. 3 team in the preseason AP Poll. Georgia is ranked behind the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes. The No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and No. 5 Texas Longhorns round out the top five. Georgia did not receive any No. 1 votes.

Once again, Georgia enters the year with high preseason expectations under head coach Kirby Smart. Georgia is coming off back-to-back SEC championship victories, but has also lost in the Sugar Bowl (College Football Playoff quarterfinals) in consecutive seasons.

The Bulldogs return a wealth of talent for the 2026 season including star quarterback Gunner Stockton. The Georgia offensive line should be stout and do a good job of paving the way for running back Nate Frazier. Georgia's wide receiver room has some questions, but the Bulldogs have a stack group at tight end, which is led by All-SEC pick Lawson Luckie.

All-America defensive back candidates Ellis Robinson and KJ Bolden highlight the strength of the Georgia defense. The Bulldogs are also hoping to get a big season out of linebacker Raylen Wilson and defensive lineman Elijah Griffin.

In the Kirby Smart era, Georgia has finished in the top-10 of the AP Poll in nine consecutive seasons. Georgia will look to continue that streak in 2026.

Georgia is also the No. 3 team in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. In the coaches poll, Georgia is ranked behind only No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Oregon.
