COLUMBIA — South Carolina football has two non-conference games to close the season and one comes with a hefty price tag.
South Carolina will pay Coastal Carolina $1.4 million on or before Jan. 31, 2026 for its game against the Gamecocks (3-7, 1-7 SEC) on Nov. 22, according to game contracts obtained by The Greenville News via open records requests.
The in-state matchup was originally scheduled for Sept. 5, 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the game was rescheduled for 2025. Coach Shane Beamer was not hired until December 2020, replacing Will Muschamp. This will be his first game against Coastal Carolina.

The individual game will cost the athletic department $1.4 million alone. In total, South Carolina is spending $1.9 million for three non-conference games.
Beamer is 2-0 in non-SEC games so far, with wins against Virginia Tech (neutral site) and SC State. The athletic department owes the Bulldogs $500,000 on or before Jan. 31, 2026.
The Gamecocks are hosting Clemson on Nov. 29 to close the season but both charge each other $0 since they play each other annually and alternate locations between Memorial Stadium and Williams-Brice Stadium.
