Peter Warrick to Be Honored During Florida State Homecoming

Florida State legend Peter Warrick will receive one of college football’s highest honors this fall when he is officially recognized as a member of the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame class.
The Seminoles and the National Football Foundation announced that Warrick’s Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute will take place during Florida State’s Oct. 31 home game against Clemson. The ceremony marks the beginning of a series of celebrations for the 2026 Hall of Fame class and gives Seminole fans another opportunity to honor one of the greatest players in program history.
Warrick was announced as Florida State’s 12th College Football Hall of Fame inductee in January. He joins an elite list of Seminole legends that includes former head coach Bobby Bowden, Warrick Dunn, Deion Sanders, Derrick Brooks, Charlie Ward, Fred Biletnikoff and several other iconic figures who helped establish Florida State as a national powerhouse.
The Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute has become a signature tradition for the National Football Foundation. Each inductee returns to his alma mater during a home game to receive a commemorative Hall of Fame plaque, which remains on permanent display at the school. The ceremony also allows fans to celebrate the accomplishments of the honoree in front of the home crowd where many of those unforgettable moments originally took place.
Few players in college football history have left a legacy as memorable as Warrick.
After redshirting in 1995, the Bradenton, Florida, native starred for the Seminoles from 1996 through 1999. During that stretch, he developed into one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country while helping Florida State post a remarkable 45-4 record.
Warrick finished his collegiate career as a two-time consensus All-American and still owns Florida State’s career record with 32 touchdown receptions. He also amassed 3,517 receiving yards, which stood as the ACC career record at the time and remains one of the greatest receiving totals in conference history. His 207 receptions, 15 career 100-yard receiving games and average of 4.81 catches per contest all rank among the best marks in Seminole history.
His defining performance came on college football’s biggest stage.
Warrick was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2000 Sugar Bowl after catching six passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns while adding a spectacular 59-yard punt return for another score in Florida State’s 46-29 victory over Virginia Tech. The win secured the Seminoles’ 1999 national championship and capped the only season in college football history in which a team finished wire-to-wire as the nation’s No. 1-ranked squad.
The honor adds to an already distinguished list of accolades for Warrick, who was inducted into the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, had his jersey retired in 2018 and earned a spot on the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.
Florida State opens the 2026 season on Aug. 29 when the Seminoles host New Mexico State before turning their attention to another campaign with championship aspirations.
