No program has had issues with players and their vehicles quite like the Georgia Bulldogs. The University of Georgia football program has faced intense national scrutiny due to a systemic pattern of dangerous driving violations.
Over 30 players and staff members have been cited or arrested for speeding, reckless driving, street racing, and DUIs since 2023. The driving crisis peaked in 2023 just hours after the Bulldogs celebrated back-to-back national championships.
A rented university SUV traveling at over 104 mph veered off the road and crashed into power poles and trees. Offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy were killed. Offensive tackle Warren McClendon and staffer Victoria Bowles survived with severe injuries.
Star defensive tackle Jalen Carter was racing his own vehicle against LeCroy's SUV. He ultimately pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of racing and reckless driving and received 12 months of probation.
Georgia Bulldogs Secure Notable Sponsorship Deal for Upcoming Season
A new partnership has been announced between the University of Georgia athletic department and a major insurance provider. Progressive Insurance will place its branding directly on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium. The arrangement includes additional signage and digital elements throughout the venue.
The Georgia Bulldogs sports marketing team released details of the agreement on Tuesday. The logos and related activations will debut at the start of the 2026 college football season. Meanwhile, the program joins a group of 13 schools participating in the same national initiative. As a result, the financial support arrives at a valuable time for student-athlete resources.
That's the good part. However, we simply cannot ignore the irony in this partnership.
Massive Social Media Trolling Facing the Program
A tremendous wave of sarcastic comments was immediately registered across various online platforms following the announcement. Many rival sports commentators noted that this specific brand alliance represents the absolute peak of sports irony.
Additionally, the program's persistent off-field vehicular issues were heavily brought up by opposing fan bases.
"The jokes write themselves," one fan aid.
"This is such a shame," a second fan wrote.
"😢 And why Progressive? Flo doesn't give UGA vibes," a third fan added.
"Why not a local bail bonds!!! 😂," a fourth person said of the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Georgia Bulldogs football team finished the 2025 season with a 12–2 record. They repeated as SEC champions before ultimately falling in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Their lone regular-season setback came in September when they fell 24–21 to Alabama.
Unfortunately, their second loss was a 39-34 loss to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
