Boston College’s newest weapon has received another preseason accolade.
On Tuesday, transfer Evan Dickens was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list for the 2026 season. This award has been given annually to the top running back in college football since 1990, when Washington’s Greg Lewis became the inaugural winner.
Other winners include Eddie George, LaDanian Tomlinson, Reggie Bush, Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, and last year’s winner Jeremyiah Love. There have been three running backs who have won the award twice — Ricky Williams (1997-98), Darren McFadden (2006-07), and Jonathan Taylor (2018-19).
The winner of the award will be announced on Dec. 10 during The Home Depot College Football Awards ceremony.
Dickens began his career at Georgia Tech where he logged just 11 carries in two years. He then tranferred to Liberty where he was given the chance to be the primary back. In 2025, Dickens rushed for 1,339 yards and a conference-leading 16 touchdowns for the Flames. He averaged 5.8 yards per carry and was third nationally with 121,7 yards per game.
Dickens is set to lead an Eagles’ backfield that features Bo MacCormack III, Nolan Ray, and Mekhi Dodd. This group will be led by former Michigan great running back and longtime coach Mike Hart.
