Julius Wilson (b. Oct. 10, 2006) is an athletic young wide receiver from Oklahoma. I expect him to redshirt* but wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him play some on special teams after a whirlwind recruitment.
Wilson prepped under head coach Bill Blankenship at Owasso (Okla.) High School, where he totaled 1,212 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns on 72 catches over the final two years of his prep career.
He had a great senior season, posting 907 yards and 12 touchdowns on 52 receptions, and also competed in basketball. At Owasso, Wilson prepped at the same high school as current K-State long snapper Jaxson Duffield.
He committed to K-State over offers from Texas Tech, Towson, UAB, and home state teams Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (to which he was committed until Mike Gundy’s firing and Eric Morris’ hiring) and Tulsa.
Wilson’s lead recruiter was his new position coach, Thad Ward, assisted by inside receivers coach Josh Buford.
Wilson has several relatives who have played collegiate football, including his father, Denoto (Oklahoma State) and his brother, Tony (Arkansas Tech).
*Keep in mind that starting this season, redshirted players can play in up to nine total games and retain their year of eligibility. If the 5-for-5 rule survives its court challenges, that number goes from nine to “all of them.”
