Junior Tuihalamaka makes his move: Is it Notre Dame or the portal?

Recently it was ruled that some players across who believed their college football careers were over could play a final season this fall, including Notre Dame defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka.

There were rumors early that this could happen and that there was potential for him to rejoin the Irish, but on Thursday he made his decision, the transfer portal. The California native played four seasons in South Bend, totaling 60 tackles, 4 sacks and an interception.

With some unknown along the Notre Dame defensive line, it would have been nice for the veteran to stick around another year, but since he’s already said his goodbye, it was time to move on. You have to believe that Tuihalamaka is looking for a team that will give him a better chance to see the field, as he’s talented enough to make an impact at this level.

He’ll forever be remember for his huge game against Georgia in the 2024 College Football Playoff, as Tuihalamaka had 4 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. Without his contributions Notre Dame may have lost against the Bulldogs. We wish Junior the best as he’ll play his final season away from South Bend.
