Where did MSU football land in CBS Sports preseason bowl projections?

Can Michigan State football get back to a bowl game this season? Brad Crawford of CBS Sports doesn't think so.

Crawford has released his preseason bowl projections for the upcoming 2026 season and he has the Spartans sitting at home this postseason. Michigan State was not included in his bowl projections.

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, UCLA and Nebraska were all similar quality teams to Michigan State that were selected for bowl games in Crawford's projections. Based on Crawford's projections, it's clear he believes these few teams will have a better season than Michigan State.

The Spartans are entering their first season under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Michigan State last reached the postseason in 2021 when they won the Peach Bowl.

Michigan State opens the 2026 season on September 4 against Toledo. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET from Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich.
