Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will remain in Oxford — for another week at least.
Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter released a statement saying Kiffin will coach the team in next Saturday’s Egg Bowl vs. Mississippi State. After the game, an announcement on Kiffin’s future is expected.
Carter’s statement comes as LSU and Florida pursue Kiffin for their respective head coach vacancies. The interest between LSU and Kiffin is mutual as members of the Kiffin camp visited Baton Rouge earlier this week.
Ole Miss is 10-1 and in contention for a College Football Playoff spot. If Kiffin were to accept another job, he would not coach Ole Miss on its potential playoff run.
However, the saga is far from over. Carter’s statement brings little, if any, closure to the situation. It’s clear Kiffin is still mulling his options.
“While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important — our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion,” Carter said.

Despite the statement, don’t expect the Kiffin to LSU buzz to go away. Kiffin’s final decision is anyone’s guess. He’s the top name on the 2025=26 coaching carousel and there won’t be certainty until pen is put to paper.
