It did not take now former Notre Dame defensive lineman Junior Tuihalamaka to make many choices this week after finding out that he is eligible to play another year to college football.

The four-year Irish contributor was notified earlier in the week that him, along with a few others could play for one last season. Tuihalamak didn’t wait around at all, on Thursday entering the transfer portal and then on Friday committing to the LSU Tigers. By not having signed with an NFL team, there weren’t many complications for him to make a move.

All of this happened just hours after Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman took the podium and addressed the situation. He said that due to the timings of the decision by the courts, it wouldn’t be possible to bypass graduate admissions and get Tuihalamaka ready for the school year.

It’s unfortunate that it happened this way, as if it were at the start of fall camp, you’d have to believe that the edge rusher would still be on the Irish’s roster. Now Tuihalamaka will finish his career with the Tigers, and we’ll be watching from a distance how he does in the SEC.
