Notre Dame football returned to the field this weekend after an off-week, and it looked rusty through much of the game against Boston College, but still managed to come away with a 25-10 victory in Chestnut Hill over the upset minded Eagles.

The Irish started off the scoring, but it took them until the first drive of the second quarter to do so on an 40-yard pass from CJ Carr to Malachi Fields. Kicker Noah Burnette missed the extra point, giving them a 6-0 lead before Carr would strike again, this time to Will Pauling. The Eagles would score a touchdown of their own right before the half, and the Irish had an opportunity to answer but Erik Schmidt missed a 35-yard field to as Notre Dame held a 12-7 lead into the half.

There would be just two drives in the third quarter, each resulting in points. The Eagles started off with a field goal, but the Irish would answer with a Jeremiyah Love 3-yard touchdown to put the score at 18-10 heading into the fourth quarter. Love would strike again, this time much longer, as he scored on a 94-yard jaunt following an interception by safety Adon Shuler. It would push the Notre Dame lead to 25-10, which would be the final score as Johnson clinched it with his second interception of the game.

The win puts Notre Dame’s record at 6-2, as they’ll get ready to face Navy next weekend in South Bend.
