Nebraska's season-opening opponent has announced its starting quarterback. Pete Thamel has reported that Ohio has named Nick Poulos the starter for the Bobcats' game against the Huskers in Lincoln.

This will be Poulos' first season as the starter after spending his last two seasons as a backup. In 12 games, he has thrown for 290 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while completing only 45.6% of his passes.

The quarterback's legs will also be a factor in Ohio's spread option offense. He has also run for 184 yards and one touchdown in his career.

Ohio is coming off a 2025 season that saw the Bobcats finish with a 9-4 record and a victory over UNLV in the Frisco Bowl. The 2026 MAC coaches preseason poll picked Ohio to finish fourth with zero votes to win the MAC Championship.

Nebraska opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Ohio Bobcats visit Memorial Stadium. Kickoff time is set for 11 a.m. CT and can be seen on FS1.
