The LSU Tigers are going to need a good 2028 recruiting class, and landing Jaelyn Easterling-Flores could be huge.
Four-star safety Jaelyn Easterling-Flores has narrowed his recruitment to six schools, and the LSU Tigers are among the SEC programs in the mix for one of the top players in the 2028 class.
The 6’2, 180-pound defensive back out of Desert Edge in Goodyear, Arizona, holds offers from Texas, LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Easterling-Flores ranks as the No. 66 overall recruit and No. 7 safety in the 2028 cycle according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. ESPN has him even higher at No. 54 overall. He’s also the No. 4 player in the state of Arizona, and he comes from a program loaded with talent across the 2026, 2027, and 2028 classes.
Easterling-Flores has taken five official visits so far, with stops at Oregon, Auburn, Texas, Notre Dame, and Florida. According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Texas holds the highest prediction to land him at 13.5%, while Auburn sits at 8.4%. LSU currently has just a 1% chance on the Rivals prediction model, though that figure may simply not be updated.
LSU needs him badly
LSU finds itself in a similar position. The Tigers have only one commit in their 2028 class as well, 3-star offensive tackle Isaiah Whitehead. For LSU, landing Easterling-Flores would arguably be an even bigger get, given the program’s current standing in the prediction models. And, LSU has competition.
The Sooners are one of four SEC schools in Easterling-Flores’ top six, alongside Texas, LSU, and Auburn. Georgia Tech and Miami round out the list. What makes this recruitment particularly fascinating is the geography. Easterling-Flores is based in Arizona, and every school in his top six sits on the East Coast or in the South. No program has a clear proximity advantage, which levels the playing field considerably.
A player worth the fight
Easterling-Flores is rangy as a safety with sticky coverage instincts and ball-hawk ability. He has the size, athleticism, and talent to contribute as a true freshman wherever he ends up. Somebody in this top six is going to land a very good football player, and the way this recruitment plays out over the coming months should be fun to watch.
